Flannery's Place Painting

The painting is influenced by the work of world-renown Southern writer, Flannery O'Connor. The painting depicts her antebellum house in Milledgeville, Georgia (Andulusia), the site where she wrote her most famous novels and short stories. I was inspired to recreate the author's house in a picture crafted with slashes, splatters, and drips of paint. This painterly technique was inspired by the idea of a "Southern Gothic," a writing tradition found in Ms. O'Connor's work as well as in much of the literature penned in the South during the mid to late twentieth century.
