About The Artwork
This painting is unframed and comes with a mount in off-white measuring 70X100cm. The work is embroidered with silk and metal threads which gives it luminosity, it is sprayed with UVA protective, transparent varnish. Inspired by a trip to the barrier reef and I wanted to replicate my experience in seeing the underlying beauty that is often hidden away from our eyes. Underwater scenes fill me with awe and I never cease to be amazed by the variety of marine life which captures my soul and uplifts it. The embroidery emulates the textures and richness of the corals. the fish are either hand painted with acrylic or with mirror foiled transfer papers. There is also iridescent fibres used to create movement as the light dances onto the mass of fan coral on right hand corner. A piece for contemplation and meditation.
