About The Artwork

Flowers in a Vase Series #1 Sunflowers, yellow Roses, pink Tulips, white Chrysanthemum, baby’s breath, green Dianthus, and a Purple Delphinium stem. In The language of flowers, this bouquet tells a story. In the 19th century, Floriography was a common practice. Flowers and how they were arranged meant more than just a gesture of pretty flowers. In 2024 I will go deeper down this rabbit hole in my studio practice as I investigate further where my interest in painting flowers comes from I will be studying the more profound meaning and symbolism. Sunflower = false riches Yellow Rose = jealousy Pink Tulip = affection White Chrysanthemum = devoted love Baby’s Breath = hope Green Dianthus = admiration Purple Delphinium = royalty and beauty
