There's something that happens when a forest fills my view. It opens up this sense of expansiveness that is unique to the situation. As I approached landscape painting, that was the goal. More that accurate species identification, I wanted to capture the feeling of the forest as a whole. An expressive chaos of line and shape, held together by the repetition of vertical lines.
