About The Artwork
President Barack Obama ran on the platform of HOPE. He was able to deliver on his promises and accomplished many great things. Unfortunately his political opponents obstructed so vehemently that he was able delivered only a fraction of what many were hoping. When you combine one of the greatest Presidents of all time with the backlash to one of the worst corrupt and racist times we have had, you still have to hope. Hope for the change to come. Hope for the endurance to deliver, even if based on the tiniest fragments of hope. I painted this portrait in 2018 and revisited it in 2020. My subjects are iconic people / topics that have had an impact on me or our society. I used pure 24K gold leaf on this painting - it emits a rich brilliance. The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front. The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
