About The Artwork

Mermaid Greek folk tale Fisherman and wife lived on the seafront. Poor man, a loser. How much he did not fish - all in vain. So they lamented day after day. One morning, a fishing boat went out to sea. Threw away the city once, the extraction - no fish. He left for the second time - nothing again. The fisherman sat down and wept bitterly: - If so, we will starve! A sudden steep wave threw a beautiful mermaid on his boat. - What are you crying for, man? Asked the mermaid. "What has happened to you?" - How can I not cry, mermaid! Here is more than a month I go out fishing, and at least something you came across. - And give me your son when he is twenty? The mermaid asked. - I have no children. - Say that you will give - and you will take the fish out of the sea every day. "Well," said the fisherman, thinking, "Is it a pity that you don't have one?" I will give you my son when he is twenty years old. The mermaid thanked and disappeared in the waves. Again, the fisherman threw the net, and only barely had it been recovered - there were only fish! He brought the fish to the bazaar in the city and bought groceries, clothes, shoes, nets, fishing rod for the bargain. The wife was amazed and very pleased. The next day the same thing happened again. In the evening the fisherman returned with a full bag of gold. And so every day. The fisherman hired the masters who built a new home for him, hired a maid, bought a large sailboat. Soon he was already out to sea, and there were so many fish in his net that the fisherman, even with a helper, could hardly take her out. He quickly got rich. A year passed, and a fisherman was born a boy, small, fat. They called it Stavraitos. The woman fainted from happiness, and the man was upset. - What's wrong with you, man? Asked the woman. "Why are you so happy?" But the fisherman did not say a word - why should she be sad? Stavraitos grew up and became a good and smart guy. He brought joy to all. Once in the morning he tells his father: - Father, can I go hunting in the mountains? Go, son! Stavraitos hung his shotgun over his shoulder, took his dog and went into the mountains. But at least to you where the bird flew ... Suddenly he sees - the eagle sat on a pine tree. - Anu because I will aim, - said the man and immediately removed the gun from his shoulder. The eagle saw that the young man was aiming at him and shouted: - Don't kill me, little boy, I have little children! Pity them, I beg you! Lowered Stavraitos shotgun: - Okay, I'm not going to kill you. - For your mercy and I will pay you good. Take this pen and always carry it with you. When you want to see me, get it - and I'll be right there for you. Stavraitos hid his feather and walked on. He went and went - until he heard a terrible roar. Nearby was a lion with broken front paws. - I jumped off this rock and broke my legs. Fuck me, boy, so I don't suffer! I still don't live ... - I will not kill you - says the guy - I am healing you. Everything will be fine, you will see! Stavritos broke four sticks, tied two reeds to each paw, gave the lion the bread he had in his bag, brought spring water and said: - Such lie, and every morning I will bring you to eat and drink. Everyday Stavraitos brought the lion food and drink until his paws healed. "For your kindness," said the lion, "and I want to thank the good. Here's a little wool, but if you need my help, get it away - and I'll be with all the lions." Stavraitos hid the wool and left. So he traveled for a long time until he was twenty. Once the fisherman went out into the open sea. When he sees - on a steep wave sits among the foam mermaid. "It's time," she said to the fisherman, "give your son away." What to do with a poor fisherman? The next day he asks his son: - Can you go fishing with me? - I'll go, Dad. They go out to sea and the father cries and hugs and kisses his son. - What are you crying for? Stavraitos asked. But the fisherman did not have time to say a word. A big wave rolled onto the boat and the mermaid on the crest grabbed the boy and disappeared with him underwater. The unhappy fisherman wept returned home. He told the woman that a storm had taken off at sea and a large wave had engulfed their son. Getting dressed in black clothes, they long, wept, mourned, fought for Stavraitos. And Stavraitos and the mermaid descended to the seabed and entered the Crystal Palace, decorated with pearls. Mermaids in algae wreaths planted them at a rich table. In the afternoon, the mermaid led Stavraitos to the crystal room on the upper floor of the palace and locked him there. The poor guy didn't know what to do, but he didn't give up hope of getting out of here. Soon a little mermaid came in to eat and drink. "Tell me, little mermaid," Stavraitos asked, "why did the mermaid lock me up here?" - To make you a half-fish, half-human. She wants you to serve her: bring pearls, seashells, various fish for dinner. And I was once a princess. The mermaid stole me from my father's ship. Like you, she locked herself in this room. Every day she led me to swim in the sea, look at the sun, breathe in the air. But it is impossible to escape from here, because the coast is very far. So my legs slowly grew and became a tail. I no longer remember my parents, and I don't care to go back to them. Stavraitos was desperate. - Where is the mermaid now? He asked. - She went to another queen she wants to make a mermaid. Beautiful princess, you do not have mercy! .. - To what queen? - To Chrysavga. She once rode a boat and was taken to the high seas. And then the mermaid's up. - Chrysavgi! Exclaimed Stavraitos. "This is our princess. In the palace they think she drowned. "Eat," said the little mermaid, "because the hostess is coming soon." Stavraitos ate, got drunk and thought. This is where the mermaid comes from. - Let's go for a swim! - Let's go! "I'm very fond of the sea." I so want to become a fish! "You will," laughed the mermaid, "just learn to swim like a fish first." - Mermaid, - began the guy, - it seemed to me that Chrysavgi, our princess, lives in your palace. It's true? - That's true. - Would you do me a favor? - Which one? - Let her go - swim with me, and I'll tell her different news from the land. - Let him swim She soon brought Chrysauga and left them alone, for she was certain that they would not go anywhere. "Chrysavgi," Stavraitos said, "numorous to the surface!" - I have sailed more than once, but around - neither you nor the ship. - Let's swim! Only they came to the surface, Stavraitos drew his eagle pen and said, - Orel, save us! He did not have time to prove how the eagle flew and said: - Get on me faster! Stavraitos and Chrysavgi boarded the eagles, and he carried them ashore. - Let's come to us first, - the guy suggested, - here is close. I'll find out how my parents are there, and then I'll take you home. - Let's go, - agreed the princess. They came to the fathers of Stavraitos, and they do not believe their eyes - before them stood a living and healthy son. Stavraitos told about his adventures, and then took the princess to the palace. How much joy! The boy came home, and the princess said to her parents: - If you please betray me to Stavraitos. He is my savior. - We are very grateful to Stavraitos, my dear, but we want you to marry a prince, not a fisherman's son. Only the prince - you level. - For another I will not go! But the parents disagreed. Stavraitos returned home, locked himself in his room and did not go out to anyone. So he sat for a long time, not knowing what to do next. "If she were a mermaid, then no one would have separated us," he thought. The princess refused to eat and drink; she did not sleep at night thinking of Stavraitos. The king, meanwhile, found the prince's daughter, the bridegroom. But the princess did not want to hear about him. The time has passed. Suddenly, there was a rumor that a neighboring king had declared his father Chrisavgi a war. He gathered an army and entered the battlefield, but could not resist the onslaught of the enemy. The king did not know how to get out of trouble. When it came to him, as if from the earth, Stavraitos grew. - King, - said the boy, - collect all your remaining soldiers and stand against the enemy. The rest I take on. The king no longer believed in victory, but gathered the soldiers and went back to the battlefield. He was opposed by a formidable army, in which ten other soldiers became the place of one killed. The king was lost. But there appeared Stavraitos riding on the lion. "Save it, left," he said. In an instant, so many lions came together that the enemies were leaving their weapons and fled the world by eye. The king returned to the palace, brought his royal princess to Stavraitos, and said: - You saved us from death. I give you my beloved daughter, because others are not worth it. Have played the wedding. The Stavraitos of Chrysauga lived happily in a pair until old age.
