About The Artwork

From the Water; acrylic canvas; 2024; 36 х 28 inches; 90 х 70 cm Delve into the depths of elemental allure with "from the Water," an evocative painting that captures the ephemeral moment of creation and rebirth. The artwork presents the viewer with the image of a figure rising, as if born anew, from the caress of aquatic realms—a symbol of purity, renewal, and the fluid nature of existence. This painting is a celebration of form and fluidity, where the subject's body is rendered with an almost otherworldly grace, echoing the ebbs and flows of the water that surrounds her. The use of vibrant blues and soothing greens creates a sense of tranquility, while the striking contrast of the figure’s warm skin tones invites a sense of intimate familiarity. As the artist, my intention was to explore the dualities that define human experience—the transient and the eternal, the corporeal and the spiritual. "from the Water," is a visual metaphor for the constant state of becoming that characterizes our lives. The subject is at the threshold of two worlds, emerging from the subconscious into the conscious, from dreams into reality. The fluid brushstrokes and the play of light and shadow suggest movement and change, reflecting the ever-changing nature of our existence. The gaze of the figure is direct and penetrating, inviting the viewer to consider their own emergence and the continual process of self-discovery and evolution. "from the Water," is a piece that speaks to those who appreciate the profound and the sublime in art. It is for the collector who seeks a narrative that resonates with the deep-seated stories of origin and transformation. With its rich symbolism and captivating imagery, this painting is a profound addition to any collection, offering an endless source of contemplation and aesthetic pleasure. It is a testament to the power of art to evoke emotion and to capture the ineffable moments of our lives.

Artistic Statement I paint large scale contemporary pieces, up to three meters, that combine Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Also my artworks are land or seascapes and figurative art. The mix of styles creates is a dialogue between interior emotions and the outside environment. I like to think that all my art comes from a place of optimism and a celebration of life. I believe that the art and objects that we surround ourselves with can motivate people and infuse our lives with positive energy. I have always maintained, and tell my art students, that good art requires steady and constant effort and practice, so I make sure I paint every day. I am also constantly looking for ways to add new elements, stylistically and conceptually, to my work.
