About The Artwork

The priestess of GMO is my answer to the issues of genetic manipulation of ... basically almost all beings that we use in the economy, both plants and animals whose properties have been genetically changed by cross-breeding for thousands of years that are currently changed at the cellular level by testing different configurations of DNA chain, mixing different beings, and researching quite chaotic results to the desired effect. In my painting a priestess having six fingers and toes, dressed in a stole on which GMOs are symbolized by strawberry-pepper fruit-o-veggie surrounded with strands of DNA. The priestess celebrates a laboratory GMO mass, in which a mysterious transformation of the gene chain takes place on her hands that are sunk in dry ice, a transformation that is similar to the mysterious Christian transformation of wine into blood. The picture is supposed to draw attention to the mystery of GMOs, which, like the mystery of faith, takes place in mysterious temples of science, beyond the eyes of crowds and is celebrated by priests of knowledge which is not given to all, for the good or bad of the sheepfold of consumers of these genetically manipulated products.

Artist statement: My art comments the world of the 21st century. I am interested in modern technologies and their impact on mankind. I love science and follow the latest discoveries. I am watchfully observing the recently resurrected space race. The computer is my faithful friend that I know, understand and respect. My protagonists think by means of algorithms. For me human is an endangered species, and the current Superman is called Elon Musk. I like precision, cleanliness and clarity of the message. I'm not romantic, I'm emphatic. This is not painting from the world of our grandparents, you are looking at art from the world of your grandchildren. And a bit of my biography. I am a Polish artist living and working in Lodz, Poland, member of ZPAP - Polish Association of Professional Artists, painter from the Oscar niminated "Loving Vincent" film - world's first fully painted feature film produced by Breakthru Films and directed by Dorota Kobiela. Main theme is humans vs. technology. Favourite media: oil on canvas, watercolour pencils.
