VIEW IN MY ROOM
Painting: Acrylic on Wood.
My practice centres on an exploration of space and structure in the landscape and my process of making.
Drawing on site on the railway station, I record my initial responses to the subject in drawing books. In this way I develop a visual language that is subsequently translated through paint.
I use a vibrant colour palette, which complements the energy of my mark making.
By painting and repainting, I build up the layers, sometimes by collaging, thereby allowing the paintings to teeter between abstraction and reality.
I invite the viewer to seek out the essence of this space and to consider the excitement of the opportunity to travel that it provides.
This work is painted on a wooden panel which can be hung on two screws.
