My hope is to create feelings of peace and reflection, of views within views, and meanings within meanings, echoing in my works the traditional purpose of Chinese gardens themselves. In Chinese culture, the frame holds a special place, not just in garden architecture, but in classical poetry, and in the traditional structures and roles within Chinese society itself. In this imaginary view, a classical wooden frame looks into an enclosed garden with traditional bamboo and water lily plantings. A lantern under the eaves anticipates the oncoming twilight. About The Artwork

A particular feature of the classical Chinese gardens are the famous carved wooden window frames, which appear in an endless variety of forms and styles. I have taken inspiration from it and created patterns of my own. If window frames are likened to be the eyes of a building, I hope my artworks have the most beautiful eyes in the world.
