There is a family living not far from my home, from Homs in Syria. When the housewife makes a felafel and tea we speak about times how they used to be before civil war. Homs was the center of an agricultural area they say, they speak about fruit and vegetable gardening and how cheap and beautifully big Syrian tomatoes were. My work broaches the issue of how the idea of natural growth can transcendend the reality of war into an idea of livable future. It works in art as is shown here, ingrows our tea-talks and bears hope for life. The work corresponds to my paintings "Branching Off into Healing Grey", see https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Branching-Off-into-Healing-Grey/777303/4956873/view and "Gardening in Japan", see https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Gardening-in-Japan/777303/6681955/view . They form a trilogy about the healing powers of gardening. It is real panel painting, plywood on a backing frame of pine-wood. The link mentioned above also leads to a backside photo featuring the expectable materiality of this panel, too. Ready to hang.

Germany
Christian Kabuß is an internationally established German artist and musician. He studied Medicine at the University of Rostock, then went on to Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Budapest to practice Fine Art. The artistic language within his paintings is deeply linked to a phenomenological approach to bodiliness, the freedom of subconscious artistic creation, and the theoretical and practical considerations of Design. Kabuß has exhibited in Germany and abroad. His works are present in regional, national and international collections. It is his aim to work as honest as possible, and he tends towards imagery, which is embedded in Lebenswelt, and sound. As a pianist, he performs small intimate concerts. His music is soft, sometimes freely improvised and portrays a sense of a parallel-world. Exhibitions in Italy, Sweden, Germany, China, and Japan.
