About The Artwork

The painting was presented during the collective exhibition "I am a tourist here myself" organized as part of NARRACJE #4 in 2012. The exhibition took place in the building of the Telephone Exchange, which was an important place during the strikes in the Shipyard, because it was from there direct and censorship-free broadcasts of the strike negotiations in August 1980 were broadcast. From 2002 to 2007, artists worked in the building, during which time the Centrala was called the Artists' Colony. The work is a critical metaphor for the "use" of the Gdańsk Shipyard as a springboard for making a career not only by artists associated with the Gdańsk Shipyard, but also by politicians known to us from the headlines who worked in the Gdańsk Shipyard in the "Świetlik" company or took part in strikes or "fought " to restore the glory of the Gdańsk Shipyard. The inscription Skocznia is located above the entrance to the shipyard, suggesting that what happened behind the gate was the place, the beginning of changes important for our history. The end of the ski jumping hill is symbolized by a gate, cutting off the ski jumping area from the remains of the strikes. It is no coincidence that there are no human figures in the painting and it shows the moment of transformation of the shipyard from a place that was a workplace, becoming a historical and museum place. In the photo we can see in the background the moment of construction of the European Solidarity Center. The only clear element in the image is the inscription Gdańsk Ski Jump, the background, buildings, gate and other inscriptions are blurry. The painting was based on Michał Szlaga's iconic photograph showing the main entrance to the Gdańsk Shipyard. the painting is in the collection of the European Solidarity Center.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

In my art I look for non-obvious, unusual and phenomenal themes. Often abstract. Nature appears very often in my works. I am interested in the intertwining of the human world with the natural world. Especially in big cities it is very interesting. I come from such a large city. I have been associated with Gdańsk for almost two decades and here I deal with broadly understood art, such as painting, music, organizing artistic events. From the technical side, my paintings are created on black. The paints I prefer the most are tempera and oil paint.
