German Shepherd Painting

I’ve been thinking for a ling time to paint animals. I already started something with the collection “Savages” that I’ll try to keep developing constantly. But I wanted to give it a try with a dog. I wanted to see how the hair texture that I try to replicate with my brush marks would look in a body different than human body and to analyse how would that affect to the brushmarks and the final result of the painting. When I work when a body different than human and shapes different than human face I feel much more relaxed. Human faces is the key element that we use to recognise other human beings. That means our eyes are so f*cking trained to make judgements about how good or bad is everything in its place. Then when I was painted this dog I could focus, much more than in any other portrait paintings, in the colours and its combination instead of the accuracy of the representation. I think that because of that relaxed mental state this painting has an extra touch in freshness and flowness. Also dog’s face doesn’t have the disturbing expression on its face (showing an uncomfortable emotional state) as many of my portrait paintings. All these ingredients make this painting one of my peasants and easiest paintings to see. UPDATE: One of the persons that saw the picture of the painting through my social media asked for more information because the dog was so similar to her. It was kind of amazing coincidence. Finally she acquire the painting for her. Unfortunately its not available anymore, but for the moment I wanna keep improving the hair texture of my paintings, which means: “Pet Commissions” would be open for a while.
