About The Artwork
“GET OFF MY BLOCK” 10” x 14” Signed Oil Painting on 1/8” tempered “Masonite”. This is an early painting done in the impasto style of abstract impressionism.The power of the arm pointing out of the image enhances the tension of the impasto community formed by the body on the image. The near claw-like hand at the side communicates the anger inherent in the painting. The surrounding yellow areas, rendered in strong, heavily painted strokes, confines and enhances the sense of frustrated power of the figure. Small colored blocks within the figure/community communicates the diversity of the surroundings. The rigidity of the “Masonite” surface enabled the brush application of thick paint blocks to create a three dimensional effect of the community.
