About The Artwork
This painting is based off a photograph I took of a beautiful Ghost Crab on Shell Island, Florida. He looks mellow here, but in real life was very annoyed at having a camera in his face. I remember at some point he was too busy watching me and didn't see a wave coming and it tumbled him over. After righting himself, he was particularly cranky and tried to pinch me with his big claw. Needless to say, I found him adorable. Selected by juror Daggi Wallace to be in the 2015 California Art League's Gold Medal Exhibition, a group exhibit. San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center, 18312 Oxnard St., Tarzana, CA 91356. Sept. 13 to Oct. 4, 2015. Artists Reception: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, from 5-7pm.

I am a geeky web developer with a background in photojournalism. I spent most of my life thinking I was not able to draw or paint. But during the summer of 2011, I bought a set of pastels and started playing with them. Encouraged by my results, that Fall I took a painting class at my local community college. Since then, it's been a pursuit that I have way too little time for, but really enjoy. I mostly use my own photographs for inspiration. And it is my love of animals and the ocean that inspires my choice of subject matter.
