Acrylic paint on canvas and aluminum can strips. The story of Gia, an LGBT icon, causes me attraction, misunderstanding and compression, in an intertwined way. A woman considered the first supermodel, influencing a generation, but degraded. Causing its own destruction. And from then on, she also became one of the first famous women to die of AIDS. In this work I try to show Gia's self-destruction, with the use of aluminum strips lining the canvas, which end up becoming sharp objects in this work if they are not handled with care. Simultaneous with the destruction, I also portray the color that coexisted with this devastation in Gia's life. On the screen, this color is behind the loose aluminum strips, showing her moments of joy, lightness, love and freedom to be who she was. This job always makes me think about everything that made her want to stay out of orbit. And the reasons to stay lucid and limpid.

Brazil
I was born in Salvador, which is in the state of Bahia. I moved to São Paulo at the age of five with my mother. I graduated in Advertising, and in parallel with the visual arts I also work as a journalist. When I was still little I drew a lot, and in 1997 I started my visual production through photography. In 2003, because I felt the need to express myself artistically in a faster and cheaper way, I started with painting. The visual arts inserted me definitively into art, and it proved to be the conductor of the constant rupture of the feeling of inadequacy of belonging to a bestially resigned society. The art was the exit door for the manifestation of my intimate and humanistic inquiry.
