Against a sunlit Venetian Palace a gondolier and two passengers move through the afternoon sun, the red umbrella the perfect foil for the blue and green palace behind. Here I play with the notion of abstract and realism, looking for the point where the two meet. Likewise this clearly impressionistic image, borders in its simple power on expressionism.
