About The Artwork

Glowing Radiance – Orange Banksia and Eucalyptus Blossoms in A Vase (2024) By HSIN LIN 75 x 75 x 2.5 cm Sealed with clear spray varnish. Side panels painted. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. Affirmation: Look up and onward, see how far we can go. To experience the seasons, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom around my surroundings, during its flowering season. This is my depiction of the gorgeous bouquet from my award-winning series - WILD BOTANICAL ABSTRACT SERIES, illuminating the beauty of banksia and eucalyptus blossoms in a vase. All the native blossoms bloom gloriously. A precious memory that I will cherish forever. The flowers were gifted to me by my family and family members overseas as a surprise, during the opening night of my solo exhibition - Bloom Like Flowers, presented by Maroondah City Council at Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery. (Melbourne, Australia) Even the galley curators kept a secret till I saw a large, breathtakingly beautiful bouquet with the crowd during the opening. I was overwhelmed by a surge of various emotions. Words could not describe how happy and grateful I am for all the love and support I received. Sometimes the strongest love may be left unsaid but presents itself loudest in action. After the exhibition, I separated them into a few vases which lasted for a few more weeks, then had those beautiful native flowers made into dried flowers. Today I still have them in my art studio, it brings a smile to my face whenever I see them. In the Language of Flowers, Banksia symbolizes rebirth, regeneration and new beginnings. As for my all-time favourite - Eucalyptus flowers and gum nuts stand for Healing and Protection. Flowers always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine. Exhibition: 8 March– 5 April 2024 VAS GEORGE HICKS FOUNDATION CONTEMPORARY EXHIBITION at The Victorian Artists Society.

HSIN LIN, Award-winning Artist based in Melbourne, Australia. In Hsin Lin’s ongoing, signature contemporary floral series that feature native and common flowers we know, flowers represent life and each different type of flower has a unique symbolic meaning. Lin is inspired by her close observation of the natural world. Through a process of careful looking Lin is able to capture an incredible amount of intricate detail. To create the larger-scale work, Lin normally spends 6-12 months developing the intricate composition. The fine details such as the tiny petals have been developed through ten or more layers of paint. Lin describes that ‘although still-life is considered a traditional genre, each object in the paintings stands for a different meaning and has its own story. Flowers represent us as humans, vases represent the body carrying our soul, protecting us like a shield. The weaving basket stands for connections—the bonds between families, friends and all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole and we are stronger together.’ Lin’s paintings, a series of flowers in full bloom, remind us that we are alive and that life is vibrant, blossoming and full of potential.
