Presented here is a vivid and expressive portrait of a mad lioness Ješe created as a part of a series in 2020. She delved into various techniques and mediums, but this one she identifies to be the most enjoyable and interesting to work with. She skillfully employed ink, acrylic, markers and colourful threads which made it a rather time-consuming piece. An extensive study was made for the lioness's anatomy in an irritated mood when her entire expression transforms. Muscles tense, and wrinkles in her skin reveal her face in a completely different manner. To add more dynamic Ješe didn't use the whole colour palette alone but also exploited the effect of embroidery, adding depth and texture to the piece.

Lara Ješe is a visual artist living and working in Kranj, Slovenia. She doesn’t stick to a particular style or a medium, but most of her production resides in figurative painting. Colder and darker tones from her earlier work with animal motifs have made way for increasingly saturated colours and strong, bold shapes. In 2016 she acquired her MFA at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and also studied at the HGB Leipzig in Germany. She has exhibited in solo and group shows internationally, most notably in Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, and the USA.
