Framed original oil on canvas. 27x27inches unframed. With frame 32x32inches This of my favourite subjects to paint. This boggy meadow is full of tall thin spindly grasses. If you can get to it, there is this path through it all. Now it is all rather overgrown, but in previous years you could walk down from the house and garden and suddenly find yourself in this lovely boggy meadow. It belonged to a friend in SW Scotland and on each visit I would go and make sketchbook paintings there. These now form my reference material for the series of paintings called The Wild Garden. You can see the whole series to date on my website www.chrissiehavers.com The canvas is framed in a contemporary style wood frame painted a soft white with a washed very pale blue edge. Thankyou for looking.

United Kingdom
www.chrissiehavers.com Represented by Cambridge Contemporary Art. The landscape is my main source of subject for painting - particularly the orderly impact on the landscape of human habitation and farming. The framework imposed by fencing hedges ditches etc and the impact these divisions have on the land is always interesting. Colours lent to the land for a few months by growing crops is another element. The rather harsh lemon of the rape or mustard crops, the cool blue of a linseed field, the effervescent mixture of echinacea flowers - all these colours provide problems for an artist. While they are very dramatic , visually they don’t sit well with the native trees and hedge colours, but I am drawn to them as a subject on exactly that account. This is what inspires my work - colour.
