Gonzo Painting

This work is a relic from the old days when I was still searching for my own style and didn't really start with a plan, but put everything I liked on the canvas. George's wife Anouk called it "knitting", which sums it up. You just keep adding stuff and later on we'll see where we end up. The title refers to Mister Gonzalez, the Diamondbacks' slugger and the way Hunter Thompson described his way off writing, adding fiction to non-fiction. The Diamondbacks had just won the World Series, beating the Yankees in extra innings in game seven. The Yankees were not amused, thinking they were entitled to the championship as a consolation for 9-11. I was a D-backs fan, after visiting my parents a few times in Phoenix, where they lived in the suburbs, locally known as Viagra Falls.
