The Gordian Knot was a legendary knot that was said to be incredibly intricate and impossible to untie. According to the legend, whoever was able to untie the knot would become the ruler of all of Asia. Many people attempted to untie the knot, but none were successful due to its complexity. The solution came when Alexander the Great arrived in Phrygia and encountered the knot. Instead of trying to untie it, he famously sliced it in half with his sword.
