About The Artwork
The beauty of ballet and dance inspired me to create this piece. This piece depicts the physical strain and grace a dancer represents. Acrylic paint is my preferred medium for painting. My technique involves different layers to achieve the color I desire and because I love to use thick layers, oil paints would take about a year to fully dry. My aim for this work was to utilize the contrast in colors to my advantage and let the colors speak for themselves to bring life to the painting. This painting is quick to grab anyone's attention with its simplicity and boldness. As for any texture, the colors on top have a light texture to them created by the paints themselves. There is another slight texture at the foot of the ballerina also created by the paint. The painting is ready to hang: it is on framed canvas and the sides are painted black. Signed on January 2015.
