About The Artwork
Gran Vista IV was inspired by the shapes of the mountains and rocks of the Southern Utah landscape. I am completely in awe of the power Earth's forces (the sun, wind, and rain) have on the constantly eroding surface. Thinking about how the Earth formed in layers and that each of these layers erode at different rates. You get these rocks that teeter on a small edge and arches and holes that create a frame for the what's on the other side. It's amazing and it blows my mind! This acrylic, watercolor, pencil piece is 12" x 18" and matted in black with a thin, glossy black metal frame. There is acrylic instead of glass for shipping purposes but that can easily be changed out to glass once received as well as it being easy to have reframed to fit your design aesthetic. My style has evolved into minimalism so that when you look at my pieces you see the simple shapes of the objects and in doing so, your imagination can see what is there. Enjoy the calmness of my creation.

As a minimalist artist, I find inspiration in capturing the essence of Earth's organic elements through silhouettes and simplified shapes. I celebrate the inherent beauty of rock formations, flowers, and water, blending well-defined shapes with expansive negative spaces to create intriguing compositions. ~~ Bio Laura Welshans is a multi-media abstract artist residing in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has exhibited her artwork in juried group shows like the 61st Delta Exhibition of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and The Other Art Fair in Dallas and Chicago as well as showcased her work in numerous solo exhibitions throughout her home state of Arkansas. She received a fellowship from Artist INC and selected for the Jen Tough Gallery Collective in Santa Fe, NM. Her work belongs to collections including CARTI Cancer Center and The Haywood Hotel. Laura shares her passion by teaching at the CreatorFest summer camp. She has received juried art awards and included in many publications.
