When working, I try to place emphasis on process, as well as explore the fundamentals of abstraction such as composition, formation, texture, colour and form to produce an image devoid of representational imagery. I want the viewer to be able to have their own thoughts regarding the processes involved in its making, be able to see brush strokes, layers, colours and areas of paint, the physical properties of the paint and its surface. I try to keep my work expressive, bold and instinctive and try to keep external factors out of my process to create something that is true, trying not to overthink, often leaving things to chance. This oil pastel study was created with high-quality oil pastel on paper. The back is titled, signed and dated (year only) and will be supplied along with a certificate of authenticity.
