Like all of my paintings, this was done in an attempt to quiet my mind and organize my emotions. My background is in figuative work. Because to me trees mirror human form, I am very drawn to them. I worked on this painting off and on all summer. I thought it was done multiple times, varnished it and brought it to shows, only to bring it back home and work on it again. It is really truly done now! I feel as though I am having dialogues with my art and the conversation with this painting is complete. There is a lot of paint on this-especially with the bark-which I wanted to be highly textured. I modified the work with pencil that can be seen in the cropped photos. It is varnished, signed and the edges are painted. It is ready to hang.
