About The Artwork
This grand old farm and orchard has been a fixture in my life since childhood. Many playful adventures occurred on this piece of property as a child. My ancestors used to own it and legend has it that Ernest Hemingway paid a visit to this farm in the early to mid 1930s, as he was writing for Colliers Magazine. Although I am more of a figurative painter, I couldn't resist this beautiful scene in all its glorious summer light. I was thinking of early Bay Area painters from the 1940s.
