About The Artwork

The idea for this new series was born in 2021 when the artist read a long-standing (75 years) Harvard University study on "being happy". Each of us defines happiness differently. For some it's a fancy car, for others it's great love or a bulging bank account. In fact, to be happy, a person needs only one thing: relationships, no matter what form they take. Nothing makes us happier than a close relationship with another person. This gave rise to the idea of an abstract series of works depicting different emotional worlds in a close bond. The works are numbered, have no name to leave the emotional decision to the viewer. The series HAPPINESS IS EASY will include 5 works. HAPPINESS IS EASY Vol. II Material: Oil on Canvas, Sterling Silver Paper 999, Gold Imitation. Please bear in mind that Silver is oxidating which is part of the conceptual transformation of this painting.

Martin Ecker (*1963 in Frankfurt am Main Germany) lives and works in Berlin. Ecker began his artistic work as a musician at the age of 14, later adding performance and acting until he began to work with painting, photography and video art. Martin Ecker is a German photographer and painter who has devoted much of his work to deciphering the reaction of chance and intention. His fascination with experimenting with reactive processes is of great importance: the observation, the action and reaction, the staging. In addition, Ecker has developed unique methods, such as the use of living organisms in photography or oxidation processes in painting. Space, time and light are recurring themes. His works can be found in international collections, companies, private collectors and art lovers.
