The HafenCity in Hamburg is growing to an interesting, attractive but also expensive district. Attractive are the Elbphilharmonie and Marco Polo Tower next to the Unilever building. I wanted to paint this growing vision of a city of the future. But how to start? The Elbphilharmonie is repeatedly discussed from various viewpoints. I wanted to have it restrained in the image. Even the Marco Polo Tower is a very striking building, which stands for the HafenCity. But ultimately cities are built for people, this I wanted to show. On a Sunday in February I walked in this emerging area. The weather was dry but very cold, unfortunately only a few people were on the sidewalks. I watched a parked car, parents with her little child got out. Children would be well on the canvas, ultimately they will be there. They - when was first grown up - conquer the area for themselves to live in the HafenCity. Parents and the child hit without discussion a common way: They walked to a nearby playground! I turned to this and was soon on the busiest square in HafenCity. In sand was a big wooden game boat, that was "conquered" by children. The planted young trees bore no foliage, in the background the Elbphilharmonic Hall could be seen. To the left framed the Marco Polo Tower the scenery. Here I experienced the "conquest" of the large timber ship. When the children are grown, they will conquer the HafenCity.

Joyous moments: Conflicts in and around us. But time and again we experience moments that remain beautiful and colorful in our memories. Memories of such predominantly beautiful experiences are the subject of my paintings. To emphasize the experienced and remembered period of time, I depict these memories with several glances. Together they interpret a period of time, the joyful moment.
