About The Artwork

The discovery of gravitational waves prompted this newest series of gouged plywood paintings after Paterson Ewen. I utilized gravity and inertia as part of the process invented by Eugene Pera in 1958. The fliud painting was a discovery of Mexican artist David Siqueiros in 1930. It's more referential then representational. It's more conceptual than real. It's meant to provoke thoughts of your place in the universe in a time of discoveries as great as that of Galileo.

Those ideas persuaded me to attend the University of Victoria where I earned my BFA (Hons) by 1992. The target was to develop a symbolic metalanguage to facilitate deconstructive events while perusing the ideas of painting in Western art history. I have expressed myself conceptually through gouged plywood painting, encaustic painting, kinetic painting, glitter painting, nano painting and pure substrateless painting in a style I think of as reductive but thoughtful.
