About The Artwork

Inspiration: Turner – ‘Rain, Steam and Speed’ The Great Western Railway (1844), Oil on canvas Turners painting depicts a scene of life in the 1840's, at this time he was particularly interested in industry and technology. I wanted to have a bit of fun with this painting, so I chose to focus in on the barely visible hare in the original. I have given my hare a little more provenance, rather than running alongside the tracks (as in the original) my hare has chosen to wait to cross the tracks! Maybe he’s learnt something over the last 175 yrs !

I classify myself as an emerging artist having entered the world of art a little way down my career path!! I have left the corporate world behind and am now pursuing a serious career in the world of art. Having grown up in the wilds of North Norfolk, I was surrounded by seasonally changing landscapes, expansive coastlines, immense sandy beaches, large skies and infinite horizons. These have embedded in me a deep-seated need for a sense of space and infinity in my life and in my work. I paint mainly in acrylic on canvas, abstract landscapes and very much enjoy playing with colour but I decided I would challenge myself and develop a series of paintings with a very limited colour palate to try to capture mood and atmosphere. I did however sneak a little bit of colour !! My paintings are held in collections in Australia, Europe and the UK. I work from a studio in Bristol, UK.
