About The Artwork
This is a painting I did of one of our ferry boats where I work at Portland Maine. It is a work boat and takes everyone including school children back and forth from their homes to Portland for work etc. The ride to the farthest island (Cliff) is 1 1/2 hours. So daily commuters often ride the ferry for 3 hours a day. I love stormy days on Casco Bay and I tried to capture that melancholy feeling I feel on rugged stormy days. I have worked with oil paint since I was 11 years old. I love the textures it creates as well as the fact that it stays wet long enough for me to try to get it right.
