About The Artwork
The idea of a series of rodeo paintings based on the Horse's Revenge came to me about 6 years ago. There was something fascinating about the horse having the upper hand for a change plus the visual of a figure caught in a moment of 'flying' through space sealed the deal. These bodies have an elegance and reveal motion frozen in time, just before disaster! Since I'm an oil painter that was a no brainer, but chose to work on a wood panel enabling me to add in cold wax and thus create more texture and transparent layers, and scrape and scumble so as to create a story with the paint.
