Hector 1 Painting

This painting is privately owned but is available in fine art prints. The original painting was 14 x 11, but it really looks terrific larger. In this piece, I attempt to capture the essence of Hector, a raven whose presence at the ranch where I stable my horse, Patron, is always a delight. In some cultures, ravens are believed to be conduits between the physical realm and the ethereal, messengers that traverse worlds. In the muted tones and the abstracted form of Hector, I strive to embody this duality. The subdued palette echoes the twilight, a time when the veil between realms is thinnest. In this piece, I strive to render Hector not just as a bird of flesh and feather, but as an emblem of that liminal space he occupies—as a guide and a harbinger. This painting, then, is more than a portrait; it's a visual representation of the bridge between the tangible and the mysteries that lie beyond and deep within.
