Held Down Painting

Held down by emotion, the look of despair, misery, and hopelessness with the neck tilted slightly to the side almost to suggest suicide The first layer of the canvas is brilliant acrylic paint applied with a pallet knife, but it is held back and muted by heavy gloss black spray paint. The female appears to be seated yet the presence of a chair is left to the viewer, a bed frame, a railing, a baby crib are all possible. My personal motive behind the piece is postpartum depression, the excitement and colors in the foreground, the crib, but the darkness and woman's attention are focused outward. Canvas was painted with Acrylic paints and spray paint, Woman was edited in photoshop and then lightly laser etched onto the canvas as apposed to being printed or painted.
