About The Artwork

Oils on stretched canvas, 36" x 48" Signed. Painting wraps around the stretcher bars. It is wired and ready to hang. Lightly textured to enhance the surface, gloss finish. From my "Intersection" series, inspired by walks through the city. The ambiguity of these images reflects the confusion of our cacophonous world and the temporal quality of our lives. Our lives are brief, but the concrete, steel and glass endure long after we are gone. I am engaged by reflected light and cast shadows, and the beauty of brown against black in relation to blue. I am fascinated with how to make metal shine or satin sheen. Most of all I am intrigued by how an arrangement of shapes and lines—figures and cars—comes together and transcends the artist’s conscious intent.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work on canvas has evolved from traditional approaches, including landscape and still life, to textured, abstract forms and conceptual work. Ever evolving, "Marina Reflections" is my latest series. Most paintings are acrylic on canvas, although several are oil. Inspired by walks around the harbor in Bellingham, camera in hand, capturing reflections in the water of pleasure boats and commercial fishers. More can be seen on my website, www.mirakamada.com. I earned a Master of Arts degree in painting/studio arts from Marshall University, and was honored with the Arthur Carpenter Award for Excellence in Art. I'm a member of Women Painters of Washington. I’ve exhibited on both U.S. coasts—from New York to California, as well as the Pacific Northwest and Canada. My work is represented in both private and public collections and has appeared in feature films. I continue to explore the many possibilities of paint, printmaking and mixed media. It’s a wonderful vocation.
