About The Artwork

I have a bad habit of going years without painting. I have felt extremely uninspired, and I go through phases like this. But i love it. When I paint it takes over my mind and allows me to truly escape into my work. I can't determine if this is healthy or not quite yet. This painting was in all honesty inspired by a need to fill an empty wall at my home. I was about to go and buy something generic, but then I remembered, I'm an artist and made something instead. As soon as I sat down and put brush to canvas, the ideas kept coming. I have never felt so confident in my ability to compose colors as I have with this one. This is all colors I have seen and views I have been privileged enough to witness deep in the crevices of my memory, bursting out of my mind to hold a permanent place on my wall. Memories created and then created again as something more than a vague thought, but a tangible peice of art.

Kirstie Singleton is a self-taught American artist, photographer and blogger. Since she can remember art has been her escape space. In high school art class was her favorite place to be. She is deeply inspired by nature, particularly the Colorado mountains where she was born and raised. Over the years, life took over, and while her interest in art was still there, the time was not. Or so she thought. She still currently works a full time job, but she is vowing to never again ignore her passions over work. She has made it a personal goal to use the limited time that she does have too build her "brand" which now includes her Blog, Pinterest, Instagram, a Tik Tok and an online Art presence starting on Saatchi Art(thanks for existing so that artists can do this). She has also made it a point to set aside as much time as she can afford to paint and just delve into art. Most of the time she is hesitant to start a project, because it tends to become an obsession. It brings her great satisfaction and purpose the moment she picks up a paint brush. "I hope my art can someday find it's way into your homes and exude that same joy I felt while making it straight into your lives." Anyways, how weird is it talking in the third person to describe oneself, then top it all off with a quote from yourself about yourself. The reason I worded my "About Me" section this way was because all the other cool kids were doing it, and I figured it was the way to go. Although it is quite possible that famous artists are not actually writing their own bios so the approach to the "About Me" section would make sense. Seems strange and completely unauthentic to who I am. I think I will leave it that way with this little tidbit below so you know that I don't take myself soo seriously.
