Societies have always been shaped more by the nature of the media by which men communicate than by the content of the communication. Media, by altering the environment, evoke in us unique ratios of sense perceptions. The extension of any one sense alters the way we think and act— the way we perceive the world. Marshall McLuhan, Quentin Fiore ‘The medium is the message’ 1967 In my visual research, mainly conducted through the medium of painting, IT media and installation, my expressive urgency combines conceptual rigor and attention to the study of materials in order to interrogate the observer around themes and issues such as the construction of reality, vision and 'transmission' of information, cognitive-perceptual filters. I look at electronic screens with the intention of exploring new landscapes, which sits in between presence and absence. I venture into a virtual journey through the complexity and quality of connection. The signal glitches lead to visual distortions and deconstructed aesthetics which create new imaginary landscapes.
