About The Artwork

My works are aesthetic experiences, they are the result of a continuous investigation of shapes, compositions, and color relationships, which on the same surface can take months or even years. The nature of what is represented as a secondary meaning in relation to the importance of the process and the result achieved in the end. Each work carries within itself the energy of its time of refinement. Truly looking at a piece with these characteristics inevitably launches us into moments of contemplation and introspection that go far beyond the painting itself, it makes us think of a time in another speed, a time which is relative and privileged.

These works are characterized by a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, often created through the layering of paint and the use of gestural brushstrokes. My approach to abstraction is informed by a wide range of influences from the artificial or man-made world, including the built environment such as cities, buildings, and infrastructures. My paintings are often composed of multiple layers that create a sense of depth and complexity. I often incorporate a variety of media and techniques into them, including acrylic paint, Indian ink, and collage elements. Many of my paintings feature gestural marks and lines that suggest movement, energy, and time while others are more restrained and minimal in their approach. My abstract paintings invite viewers to engage with the emotional and sensory aspects of art and to explore the many layers of meaning and interpretation that can be found within each piece. Many of my paintings have titles that refer to architectural concepts, scientific terms, and poetic metaphors. This suggests that my interest is not only in the visual qualities of aesthetics but also in their underlying principles and theories. Altogether, while the work is certainly abstract in the sense that it does not depict recognizable objects or scenes, it is also deeply informed by my interest in formal language. This gives the paintings and drawings a unique character and sets them apart from the more purely gestural or expressive forms of abstract painting.
