This painting explores landscape, politics and memory in communist Romania in the mid 20th Century, working from a found archive of slide photographs discovered in the street in Edinburgh. Inspired by the work of Vuillard, Hopper and Richter, the painting allows the viewer to become a member of the group, be part of the scene. Looking through the eyes of a scientist onto a landscape to build a painting where the narrative is mysterious.
