About The Artwork

This work is a part of my collection "Faces that burned my heart" which includes the portraits of women from different places with different stories. I decided to paint this portrait after learning about the story of a Japanese woman, Hiyori Kon, who is known for advocating for equal rights for women to compete professionally in Japan. In Japan, women are not allowed to enter or touch the wrestling ring as they are "impure.
