• Material: Acrylic on canvas, thread and pieces of stone. • About the work: We have been reading the different ways of using stones since our childhood. The work depicts the journey of stones from Stone Age to the contemporary times. Since the inception the stone has been an inseparable part of cultures and civilizations. Our ancestors used it to make homes, to draw, to hunt and for several other things. In current times also, the stones are used for both purposes – attack and defense, to unite or divide communities and societies. Stones have been used to make setu (bridge) and also they are used for killings when overreacted by the crowds. Hence, like a coin, stones too keep binary characteristics within them. The decorated background in vibrant colors represent the folk culture and tradition in which stones too play a vital role.
