About The Artwork
Description: This is a pastel on paper painted of a typical house on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine. Monhegan has an "otherworldly" quality about it, particularly its light. There is a certain mystery about how the horizon of the sea and water meld together as a backdrop that pushes the house forward. I loved the contrast of the young man bustling toward his lobster boat as the two tourists were strolling over the lawn. I have been influenced by George Bellows' paintings of Monhegan Island as well as the Rockwell Kent paintings. Medium: Pastel on Paper Year Created: 2007

Born 1954 in Weisbaden, GermanyI have been an artist for over 30 years. I have been a portrait painter for most of my art career. I have painted business leaders such as the posthumus portrait of L.L. Bean for the L.L. Bean Company in Freeport, Maine, Marvin Sadik, the former director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the late philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce for her private collection. I have painted multitudes of children portraits throughout the years. I am now painting landscapes in oils and pastels and exhibiting my work in the Northeast of the USA.
