How to leave #1: Walking away from the house Painting

I collect pictures in my 'sourcebooks', my personal archive of daily life. I cut the pictures from magazines, newspapers, adds, internet or I use my own photos. Many of the pictures refer to film stills, they seem to show a frame of a larger story. I make new stories out of found images. I am fascinated by what determines your view. What makes you see that one particular image? And remember this specific image? How does someone else see that picture? And can a view be influenced? Increasing the concentration of seeing by induced disturbance: In my study I try to captivate the beholders view and intensify it by disrupting this view. For example in this painting I combine the figurative image with two abstract color blocks. The color blocks are random, without a preconceived plan. It is fascinating to note how the different fields can reinforce each other and guide the direction of seeing. The painting is made with acrylic on canvas.
