About The Artwork

When your psychic or physical skin is burnt so badly that you need new skin, how do you put the skin back on? Or grow new skin? I chose this subject as an expression of my own experiences as a survivor of complex PTSD, and as a nurse who has treated burns victims. I hope that it brings some level of comfort for others with similar experiences. You are not alone. Recovery is possible and new things emerge. I chose oil paint for it's skin. There is such relief in expression. Ready to hang on a box canvas.

Rosielea - Tea? Born and bred in London, based in New Zealand. I am a mixed media artist with a love of exploring various media, materials and techniques to paint a mood or tell a story. I enjoy painting about the ‘underneath’ of things, as well as creating bright, happy works and illustrations. Some of my work is abstract, or expressionist. Other works have an emphasis on the materials and narrative, depending on what it is I am wanting to express. I hope people enjoy viewing my work, and that they can see something of their own stories in it too. Though I started late in life, making art was something I always dreamed of being able to do. One day I decided to just do it, and I have been doing it ever since. I graduated from TLC (The Learning Connexion) in Wellington. I live in my studio with my two cats, Poppy Longstockings, and Picallo Picasso
