ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A vibrant orange forms the backdrop for a cacophony of pattern and rich splashes of colour. Each individual piece of unsupported dried paint are cut from a variety of paintings that are without backing of any kind. They are then collaged onto the canvas coupled with metallic wallpaper and highlighted with streams of colourful dots. This is an engaging maximalist work that is full to the brim of energetic, passionate drama. The work is fitted with D-rings and wire for immediate hanging. On the back you will find my signature, title, and date. The artwork is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists), details of the registration will be included with a Certificate of Authenticity. The work is sealed with multiple layers of fine art varnish. The work will be shipped in a custom plywood box.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
