ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by the famous Enfield Poltergeist case, this painting functions as an investigation. I focussed on the 1970s nostalgia by researching contemporary interior trends as well as the kind of posters a young girl in the 70s would have put up in her room. Because of the ghostly inspiration I tried to use multiple transparencies of paint to create an otherworliness.

Rachael Eden was born in Whitley Bay in North Tyneside and studied at the University of Brighton receiving her BA Hons in Fine Art Painting in 2015. Eden works within her own sci-fi universe, weaving a narrative with seemingly disparate images. She works instinctively; leafing through books and magazines until an image or story grabs her. Her work can be read in many different ways with each viewer projecting their own ideas and narrative onto it.
