About The Artwork

Seventh piece of the "hyperpixel" series. The concept of hyperpixel is that as like as a pixel, the painting can not be separated, is square shape and (relatively) small. Like a pixel it defines a colour as minimal quantity of a larger set, an image, and in this case the "hyperpixel" series. I use only high quality oil colors for the exceptional rendering given. Three artworks of this serie had been distinguished with the 3rd Price for abstract oil painting in the Peyrolle-en-Provence Art Fair in 2021.

I seek to express the deep nature of the world around us. The perceptible nature of what surrounds us seems to be a veil of illusions generated by our senses. The real structure of the universe is mathematical and physical, it is expressed in my work through a structure formed of colored squares inherited from cubist art. On it are superimposed lines of imaginary landscapes built intuitively. The colors then come to structure themselves according to these original lines to create natural shapes with which sometimes blocks appear to be dwellings mingling. The viewer is called upon to get lost in these bright and colorful landscapes. I use high quality oil paints for the final rendering of the colors and the resulting incomparable contrasts. I only work with a painting knife for the speed of the work that this allows in order to stay in the rapid expression of the idea that is formed during the work. In the end, I add graphite lines in the fresh paint to create vertical lines which then structure the composition. My paintings play with color agreements, contrasts, while seeking to respect the academic rules of landscape composition despite the tints obtained sometimes far from reality. I try to use a minimum of pure tones to keep a chromatic unity in the structure of the composition.
