About The Artwork

Some people really love that feeling of intense anticipation just before you crest the top of the incline on a roller coaster. The hair on the back of your neck is tingling and you take in a huge gulp of air before that moment of weightlessness that you know is coming. Before it has the chance to take your breath away. Time seems to slow down in your mind for just a moment and all six senses are popping and crackling on high alert. The expectation of excitement is what turns these kinds of people on. Other people are thrilled by the drop itself and the sheer speed they experience as the car careens down the tracks. They hate the wait on the way up, but they know it's worth it for the wild, scream-your-ass-off ride on the way down. Will we all survive? Is this the day the car will be going too fast? Is it my turn? A third group thinks the very idea of roller coasters is crazy and would never climb into such a death trap nightmare-maker. Possibly just pragmatic, possibly just overly cautious, or maybe just flat out scared and know they might lose their lunch at some point. And that's okay. A wise man once said; "Person's got to know their limitations..." To which group do you belong? I'm sure the world of professional psychology has all kinds of follow up questions to peel back that onion... but for me the question comes down to this: "Did you come to watch, or did you come to PLAY?"

After a 30 year career in advertising and sales leadership I escaped the corporate media world a few years ago and can now focus on creating my own work. In other words, I'm an outsider artist that has decades of ideas pouring out. My intent is primarily to create pieces of art that are highly visual and interesting to enjoy and study... but may often express ideas, ask questions, unearth feelings, debate opinions, or sometimes be provocative. Like many paintings though, they're often just a combination of lines, shapes, colors, textures, and space. That said; I hope my work presents a UNIQUE combination of art elements to you and that you like what you see. Better yet, I hope you believe some of my pieces should be included in your collection. I've traveled the world but have always lived in the Philadelphia area. While I have no formal training as an artist, I've been a photographer and I've been around the art community my whole life. My wife Suzanne works as a Docent for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and together we've raised three wonderful sons that are all now making their own way in the world. We have a home and our studio in Chester County PA with our Bernese Mountain Dog; Mr Charlie.
