I Am the half Butterfly Painting

I call this kind of works "paintings that come out of the picture". The figure, in fact, "comes to life", transforming itself into a three-dimensional image that escapes from the binding frame of the canvas to get in touch with the surrounding space and with the viewer. The lower part of the butterfly is thus transformed into a cascade of light fabrics that fall down to the ground to symbolize a path, a road to follow to get to the work or to let it go. The work "I Am the half Butterfly" is a self - portrait, or a sort of diary of a specific period of my life that ends only recently, in the spring of 2017. Inside the picture there are all elements that belong to me, that I used in those years, that I have preserved and that now make up the work. We can find: old high school sketches, press proofs of the Academy, diary pages with my dreams written on them, tea bags, different types of paper ... finally, the "tail" of the butterfly is entirely composed of my clothes. My idea was to take all these elements from the past to create something and then have them all together before my eyes. I can see all those elements now very clear in front of me, and what was previously confused is now very clear and conscious ... done this, I can let go of the past. The past is past.
